Varicose veins affect a large segment of the US population. They are large, tortuous, usually bulging, visible vessels that show up on the legs. They can cause skin ulceration, skin discoloration. They cause heaviness and achiness in the legs. When we treat these, we bring the circulation back to normal state and people's symptoms disappear, if they have more advanced disease such as skin ulcers, they heal. So varicose veins are progressive disease that unless treated will continue to give more pathology and more cosmetic problems.
