What is
IntimaLase?
The body begins to produce less collagen and elastin as a result of the natural aging process. Therefore, when vaginal tissue becomes stretched—typically due to childbirth; however, genetics and aging are additional factors—the body may have difficulty recovering to a similar level of elasticity. IntimaLase is designed to stimulate collagen remodeling using thermal energy, which can help to tighten the vaginal canal. The process is simple, requires no incisions, and usually takes only a few minutes.
The IntimaLase procedure involves placing a laser speculum and circular adapter inside the vaginal canal to deliver 360 degree radial bursts of thermal laser energy into the vaginal walls and the vulval opening. The thermal energy is absorbed by the vaginal tissue and endopelvic fascia, stimulating collagen remodeling and the growth of new collagen fibers. Through this process of collagen rebuilding and production, shrinking and tightening of the vaginal canal can be achieved. Patients report minimal discomfort during this procedure. You should start to notice improvement after your first treatment, but a series of three treatment sessions (spaced one month apart) is recommended to achieve optimal results. You can return to normal activity immediately following your visit, and there typically will be no downtime.
