If you have ever considered dermal fillers, such as Restylane®, Juvéderm®, Voluma™ or Sculptra™, you might be wondering what can be done to avoid some common side effects that can occur after injections. Many patients experience redness or bruising after their treatments, and although these side effects generally dissipate fairly quickly, we want to do all we can to minimize this from happening in the first place. With blunt-tip cannulas (also known as microcannulas), we are able to reduce swelling, bruising, redness, and pain for our patients. These devices are flexible and able to move beneath the skin, so can also address a larger treatment area from a single injection site, reducing the amount of injection sites needed. They also cannot puncture a vessel under the skin’s surface, gliding smoothly around them avoiding potentially bruising unlike a needle. The addition of microcannulas to our practice has helped allow patients with busy lifestyles to come in for treatment on a lunch break and return to work immediately afterwards, without worrying about potential bruising or redness. Ultimately, it is clear that this incredible enhancement to the cosmetic injectables process has helped many of our patients - regardless of their schedule - to have a more comfortable and convenient experience with dermal fillers.
