Today’s CO2 lasers like Active FX, Deep FX and Pixel CO2 involve treating only a fraction of the skin’s surface at a time leaving islands of healthy tissue to aid in the regeneration process and rapid recovery.
A high-energy beam of laser light interacts with the skin’s surface causing the upper layer to peel off and regenerate a layer of new, healthy skin. Each laser pulse removes a deep column of tissue while simultaneously treating surrounding skin. This deep ablative heating causes immediate collagen contraction and long-term collagen remodeling. Recovery from
CO2 Laser Treatment
Following CO2 laser treatment, some patients may experience swelling, redness, and peeling at the treatment areas which will usually subside within a week. Most patients are able to resume daily activities immediately after the treatment. *Optimal results of the CO2 laser skin resurfacing treatment start to appear within the first week, but best results will be most apparent after several months.
